Grand Canyon University will be one of the newest NCAA Division I athletic programs in the coming years, and as it prepares for the transition, its breathing new life into its sports medicine program, the Cronkite News reports.
Here's what you should know.
1. The university is adding several things including: a hydrotherapy room, cryotherapy, underwater treadmills and several other things, Director of Sports Medicine Geordie Hackett said.
2. The expansion costs between $500,000 to $1 million dollars and will add 2,500 square feet to the school's current facility.
3. Hackett believes Grand Canyon's facilities can rival "some of the best physical therapy clinics, athlete performance facilities and physical therapy facilities," from around the nation.
4. The school will complete its transition by the 2017-18 academic year.
