Jason A. Genin, DO, an orthopedic surgeon with the Cleveland Clinic, served as a team physician for the Cleveland Indians during their World Series run this October, The DO reports.
He shared his experience with the publication.
1. After capturing the American League pennant, Dr. Genin was in the locker room partaking in the champagne baths. He said the "joy and sense of accomplishment" was something he'd never forget.
2. Dr. Genin started as a team physician with the Indians four years ago. He was the only DO on the Indians medical team.
3. He is the primary physician during all Indian home games taking care of the Indians and the visitors on a daily basis.
4. Dr. Genin said the hardest part of his job was determining the course of treatment for an injured athlete. He told The DO, "You typically have limited time to decide whether he can continue to play in the game and what his best medical treatment would be."
