The Denver Broncos promoted Steve 'Greek' Antonopulos to director of sports medicine, according to CBS Denver.
Here are seven highlights:
1. In his new role he will oversee the sports medicine program, inclusive of athletic training and player rehabilitation.
2. Mr. Antonopulos has served as the Broncos' head athletic trainer for 37 seasons, and has worked about 900 Broncos games.
3. The Broncos believes his 41-year career with the Broncos is the longest held athletic trainer position with one team in NFL history.
4. Mr. Antonopulos received the Fain-Cain Memorial Award in 2011, for his "long-term commitment to the NFL as well as exemplary performance."
5. Certified by the National Athletic Trainers Association, Mr. Antonopulos also holds certification as a blood flow restriction rehabilitation specialist.
6. Mr. Antonopulos earned his master's degree in sports medicine from Corvallis-based Oregon State University.
7. With Mr. Antonopulos' promotion, the Broncos also promoted Vince Garcia to head athletic trainer.
