James Andrews, MD, of Gulf Breeze, Fla.-based Andrews Institute performed surgery on Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Clay Buchholz after meeting with him earlier this week, according to NewsOK.
Here are five things to know:
1. Dr. Andrews performed the surgery on Mr. Buchholz's right forearm on Tuesday, April 18.
2. Mr. Buchholz's recovery could take four to six months, meaning he possibly misses the entire season.
3. The pitcher suffered a partial tear of his right flexor pronator mass during a game on April 11.
4. An April 12 MRI revealed the injury. Dr. Andrews offered Mr. Buchholz a second opinion on Monday, April 17.
