Pittsburgh-based Allegheny General Hospital's John Lyne, MD, performed an operation to remove an abnormality suspected to be testicular cancer from Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Jameson Taillon.
Here's what you should know.
1. Mr. Taillon alerted the Pirates' medical staff of an abnormality.
2. After a consult with Dr. Lyne, he performed the surgery on Mr. Taillon.
3. A recommended treatment plan is contingent on further testing.
4. Pirates Executive Vice President and General Manager Neal Huntington said in a release, "Jameson has again proven to us what a strong person he is by the way in which he has reacted to this development. We are appreciative of Dr. Lyne and the staff at Allegheny General Hospital for their invaluable expertise and efforts in caring for Jameson."
