Don Sheridan, MD, will operate on the right hand of Arizona Diamondbacks utility player Chris Owings.
Here's what you should know:
1. Mr. Owings was hit in the right hand while attempting to bunt the ball, fracturing his middle finger.
2. Mr. Owings saw Dr. Sheridan who confirmed the diagnosis. Dr. Sheridan will perform the surgery at a later date.
3. Dr. Sheridan practices in Scottsdale, Ariz., and is the Diamondbacks' orthopedic hand specialist.
4. Dr. Sheridan earned his medical degree from the University of Arizona in Tucson and completed his residency and fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn.
