Methodist Sports Medicine names Dr. Mark Ritter Grand Park medical director: 5 things to know

Westfield, Ind.-based Methodist Sports Medicine promoted Mark Ritter, MD, medical director of Grand Park Events Center, also in Westfield.

Here are five things to know:

 

1. Dr. Ritter, an orthopedic surgeon, currently serves as Methodist Sports Medicine’s president.

 

2. As medical director, Dr. Ritter will provide medical supervision oversight for all athletic events at the park. He will also serve on-site for various tournaments.

 

3. Dr. Ritter will also be responsible for planning and directing the organization’s medical policies and procedures. He will develop clinical policies and procedures, treat athletes and facilitate public safety and emergency medicine staff.

 

4. Grand Park opened in September 2017 with Methodist Sports Medicine being the official medical provider. Dr. Ritter joins Michael Heitholt, MD, three athletic trainers and a physical therapist from Methodist Sports Medicine staff at the Grand Park clinic.

 

5. After earning his medical degree from Iowa City-based University of Iowa School of Medicine, Dr. Ritter completed his residency at Brown University in Providence, R.I. Dr. Ritter underwent dual fellowship training at Brown University and UC San Diego.
