New Orleans Saints' orthopedic surgeon Dr. Larry Bankston to provide sports medicine coverage at NFL Pro Bowl: 3 insights

Orthopedic surgeon Larry "Chip" Bankston, MD, will provide sports medicine coverage at the 2018 NFL Pro Bowl on Jan. 28 at the Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Fla., WAFB.com reports.

Here are three things to know:

 

1. Dr. Bankston of Baton Rouge (La.) Orthopaedic Clinic joined the New Orleans Saints as the head team orthopedic surgeon in August 2017.

 

2. He received his medical degree from the Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans and completed an orthopedic residency at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. He underwent sports medicine, shoulder and elbow fellowship training at Charlotte, N.C.-based OrthoCarolina.

 

3. New Orleans had seven players named to the 2018 Pro Bowl team, along with head coach Sean Payton and the Saints coaching staff.
