Keith Meister, MD, will perform Tommy John surgery on Cleveland Indians' prospect Julian Merryweather, MLB.com reports.
Here's what you should know.
1. Mr. Merryweather will have the procedure performed March 9. He was experiencing arm discomfort which led to the medical examination. He'll miss the 2018 season.
2. Dr. Meister is the head team physician for the Texas Rangers and director of Arlington, Texas-based TMI Sports Medicine.
3. He previously served as the head team physician for the NHL's Dallas Stars, the NBA D-League's Ft. Worth Flyers, Gainesville-based University of Florida Athletics and USA Hockey.
