Robert Watkins III, MD, performed herniated disc repair surgery for Ottawa Senators forward Marian Gabornik on April 5 at the Marina Del Rey, Calif.-based Marina Spine Center, ESPN reports.
Mr. Gabornik, who last played March 22, scored 11 goals and made 10 assists in 46 games this season for the Los Angeles Kings and Ottawa Senators. He has 407 goals and 408 assists in 1,035 NHL regular-season games. Mr. Gabornik was traded to Ottawa Feb. 14 with Nick Shore for Dion Phaneuf and Nate Thompson.
Dr. Watkins is a board-certified orthopedic spine surgeon and co-director of the Marina Rey Hospital spine clinic along with his son, Robert Watkins IV, MD. He also specializes in sports injuries and serves as a spinal consultant for several major Los Angeles athletic teams.
