David Altchek, MD, repaired the partially torn ulnar collateral ligament of New York Mets' catcher Travis d'Arnaud, Newsday reports.
Here's what you should know.
1. Mr. d'Arnaud will miss the 2018 season, but Dr. Altchek said the procedure was successful.
2. Dr. Altchek is an orthopedic surgeon and the co-chief emeritus in the sports medicine and shoulder service at New York City-based Hospital for Special Surgery.
3. Dr. Altchek also is the Mets' medical director and a consultant for the NBA. He was the North American director for the Association of Tennis Professionals and a team physician for the U.S. Davis Cup team.
