The Southern League's Pensacola Blue Wahoos will hold a Dr. James Andrews Appreciation Night May 25, honoring James Andrews, MD, for his contributions to the community.
Here's what you should know.
1. The team will give 2,000 fans a Dr. Andrews bobblehead, and Dr. Andrews will be at the game to throw out the ceremonial first pitch. He'll also be given a custom Blue Wahoos jersey.
2. Pensacola, Fla.-based Baptist Health Care President and CEO Mark Faulkner said, "Baptist Health Care exists for the sole purpose of lifting up this community. That purpose is shared by Dr. Andrews, the Pensacola Blue Wahoos and Quint Studer. All of us celebrating together the accomplishments of Dr. Andrews is incredibly well deserved and will only inspire Dr. Andrews, and all of us, to continue to raise the bar."
3. Dr. Andrews founded the Andrews Institute for Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine in Gulf Breeze, Fla., in 2007. He is one of the leading orthopedic surgeons in the world, and his center is internationally recognized for its sports medicine treatments.
4. Dr. Andrews is also the Tampa Bay Rays' orthopedic medical director.
