Philadelphia Eagles head team physician Peter DeLuca, MD, and internist Gary Dorshimer, MD, will not return for the 2018 season, a source close to the team told The Inquirer.
Here's what you need to know.
1. The team ended its relationship Drs. DeLuca and Dorshimer, who served the Eagles for nearly 20 years. They will remain team physicians for the Philadelphia Flyers, however.
2. Along with the team physicians' departure, the Eagles' head athletic trainer Chris Peduzzi resigned after the team's Super Bowl win.
3. The new team physicians will come from Philadelphia-based Rothman Institute. Both Dr. DeLuca and Dr. Dorshimer are surgeons at Rothman Institute.
4. Dr. DeLuca and Dr. Dorshimer were vital members on the team's medical staff, which included six physicians. It is unclear if other staff will be replaced.
