More than 100 students of Columbus-based The Ohio State University accused late school physician Richard Strauss, MD, of sexual misconduct, the university said in a report.
Here's what you should know:
1. The university began investigating allegations in April after athletes from 14 sports teams came forward. OSU released its findings July 20.
2. The athletes alleged Dr. Strauss sexually abused them during medical examinations.
3. The alleged abuse took place between 1979 and 1997.
4. The university interviewed more than 200 former students and administrators and plans to interview at least 100 more. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Perkins Coie investigators, even to share their accounts anonymously.
5. "The Ohio State University remains actively committed to uncovering what may have happened and what university leaders at the time may have known," according to a university statement.
6. Several of the accusers believe U.S. Rep Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, knew of the abuse but did nothing, CNN reports. Mr. Jordan was an assistant wrestling coach between 1987 and 1995. Mr. Jordan denied having direct knowledge of the allegations.
7. Dr. Strauss died by suicide in 2005.
