Dr. Steven Shin performs hand surgery on Suns' Devin Booker: 4 details

Steven Shin, MD, performed surgery on the right hand of the Phoenix Suns shooting guard Devin Booker Sept. 10, AZcentral.com reports.

Here's what you need to know:

1. Mr. Booker missed the final 12 games of last season due to the hand injury.

2. With an anticipated recovery time of six weeks, Mr. Booker is expected to miss the start of the 2018 regular season.

3. Dr. Shin is an orthopedic surgeon and the director of hand surgery at Los-Angeles based Cedars-Sinai Kerlan-Jobe Institute.

4. Dr. Shin is a hand consultant to the following teams: Los Angeles Dodgers, Los Angeles Rams, Los Angeles Kings, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, USC Athletics, and Loyola Marymount University Athletics. He is an associate editor for the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, former contributing editor for the Yearbook of Hand and Upper Limb Surgery and a reviewer for the Journal of Hand Surgery.
