Arizona Diamondbacks' pitcher Clay Buchholz visited James Andrews, MD, to have his right arm evaluated, Az Central reports.
Here's what you should know:
1. Mr. Buchholz injured his right arm flexor during the team's Sept. 13 game. He will be out for the remainder of the season.
2. After dealing with right-arm flexor strains for years, Mr. Buchholz underwent surgery in April 2017 with James Andrews, MD. Dr. Andrews repaired a piece of bone the flexor had ripped off during a strain.
3. Mr. Buchholz had an MRI Sept. 14, which Dr. Andrews reviewed.
4. Dr. Andrews is a founding partner of Gulf Breeze, Fla.-based Andrews Institute for Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine. He is one of the leading orthopedic surgeons in the world, and his center is internationally recognized for its sports medicine treatments.
5. Dr. Andrews is the Tampa Bay Rays' orthopedic medical director.
