Robert Anderson, MD, will perform season-ending reconstructive surgery on Chicago Bulls forward Denzel Valentine's left ankle, the Chicago Tribune reports.
Here's what you should know:
1. Dr. Anderson diagnosed Mr. Valentine with ongoing ankle instability in his left ankle.
2. Dr. Anderson will perform the reconstruction procedure during the week of Nov. 26. Mr. Valentine said he expects to spend the next year recovering.
3. This will be the 25-year-old forward's third surgery in his three seasons with the NBA.
4. In May 2017, Mr. Valentine underwent less invasive surgery on the same ankle, and last April he had a scope procedure done on his left knee.
5. Dr. Anderson is an orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist at Bellin Health Titletown Sports Medicine and Orthopedics in Green Bay, Wis. He serves as an associate team physician for the Green Bay Packers.
