Marty Isbell, MD, surgically repaired the left shoulder of Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Trevor van Riemsdyk, the team reports.
What you should know:
1. Mr. van Riemsdyk will miss up to six months.
2. He suffered the injury in the Hurricanes' playoff series against the New York Islanders April 28.
3. Dr. Isbell performed the procedure at Raleigh (N.C.) Orthopaedic May 2.
4. Dr. Isbell has been the Hurricanes' head team orthopedic surgeon since 2006.
