The American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine inducted orthopedic surgeon Christopher Harner, MD, into its hall of fame at the organization's annual meeting in Boston on July 14.
Dr. Harner is professor and vice chair of academic affairs and the sports medicine fellowship program director in the department of orthopedic surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston.
He supervises clinical and basic science studies of knee injury, healing and surgical repair and helps in the development of junior faculty for leadership and research careers in orthopedics.
Dr. Harner educated over 200 undergraduates, graduates, medical students, residents and fellows and is a member of the editorial review boards for several orthopedic, sports medicine and scientific journals.
He earned his medical degree from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Following medical school, he completed an orthopedic residency at the University of Pittsburgh and a sports medicine fellowship at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City.
