Neal ElAttrache, MD, will perform Tommy John surgery on New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Hicks' right elbow Oct. 30, MLB.com reports.
What you should know:
1. Mr. Hicks went to Dr. ElAttrache for a second opinion. After Dr. ElAttrache confirmed the tear, Mr. Hicks decided to undergo the procedure.
2. The Yankees expect Mr. Hicks will need eight to 10 months to recover.
3. Dr. ElAttrache is the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Foundation board chairman and program director for the Kerlan-Jobe Sports Medicine Fellowship.
4. He is the head team physician for the Los Angeles Dodgers and Los Angeles Rams, as well as an orthopedic consultant to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, Los Angeles Clippers, Los Angeles Kings, Anaheim Ducks and PGA Tour.
