The American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine appointed Michael Ciccotti, MD, as its 49th president July 9.
Dr. Ciccotti is chief of the division of sports medicine as well as director of the sports medicine fellowship and research at Rothman Orthopaedic Institute and Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University, both in Philadelphia.
As president, he aims to advance mentorship, collaboration, engagement and advocacy. He will look to develop the Emerging Leaders Program, which mentors members 45 years and younger.
Dr. Ciccotti serves as head team physician and medical director for the Philadelphia Phillies. He is also an orthopedic sports medicine consultant for the Philadelphia 76ers, Eagles and Flyers.
He has authored 117 peer-reviewed articles and 36 textbooks, and presented 655 lectures on national and international levels.
