Connecticut orthopedic surgeon inducted into AOSSM hall of fame

Robert Arceiro, MD, chief of sports medicine at Farmington-based UConn Health, has been inducted into the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine's hall of fame, according to a July 14 news release.

Three notes:

1. The society created the hall of fame in 2001 to recognize members of the orthopedic sports medicine community who have made significant contributions to the specialty.  

2. Dr. Arceiro is director of UConn Health's sports medicine fellowship and a team physician for the health system's athletic programs and USA Hockey. He has authored more than 100 scientific articles on ligament, tendon and cartilage injuries of the knee and shoulder.

3. The award was presented virtually at the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine's annual meeting, held in combination with the Arthroscopy Association of North America, July 7-11 in Nashville, Tenn.
