Gian Corrado, MD, will join Boston-based Massachusetts General Hospital as director of emergency sports medicine.
Dr. Corrado, head team physician at Northeastern University, will step into the new role Jan. 1, according to a news release from the school. He'll remain associated with the university and will care for professional athletes in addition to those at Northeastern.
"[Dr. Corrado] has such a breadth of experience in taking care of elite athletes for a long period of time at Northeastern, and so I think we’ll learn from him and his experiences, and we’ll all be better from the relationships," Pete Asnis, MD, director of professional sports at Mass General, said in the release.
Dr. Corrado joined Northeastern in 2006 and has helped lead the sports medicine division at Boston Children's Hospital.
