FDA awards $2.6M for 3D bioprinting research

The FDA awarded $2.6 million in grants for 3D bioprinting and biomanufacturing research, 3D Printing Industry reports.

The five research institutions receiving the award are:

1. Cambridge, Mass.-based Harvard University — $599,910

2. Pittsburgh-based Carnegie-Mellon University — $599,844

3. Piscataway, N.J.-based Rutgers University — $600,000

4. Atlanta-based Georgia Institute of Technology — $600,000

5. Cambridge-based Massachusetts Institute of Technology — $600,000

Carnegie-Mellon will use the award to focus on manufacturing needs for extracellular matrix scaffold 3D printing.
