OPM releases positive findings in 3D-printed PEKK study

Surface Technology

Oxford Performance Materials released results of an in vitro study that noted a definitive relationship between OPM's 3D-printed PEKK material, OsteoFab, and bone regeneration.

Three insights:

1. Human synovial fluid mesenchymal cells were able to attach, multiply and differentiate on PEKK scaffolds.

2. The results demonstrated strong evidence of new bone formation.

3. The native 3D-printed PEKK test groups have exhibited bone apposition, bone ingrowth and advanced biomechanical properties, indicating that the implant is a highly functional material.
