Spinal Tech

Wenzel Spine has added new members to their scientific advisory board.

Here are five things to know about Wenzel Spine and its scientific advisory board.

1. Wenzel Spine has added two new members to the scientific advisory board — Jeff Arle, MD, and Thomas Wilson, MD. Wenzel Spine offers minimally invasive solutions for stand-alone treatment of disc herniations, spinal stenosis and spondylolisthesis. "Their thought leadership and participation in clinical initiatives will be invaluable to our team and organization," said Chad Neely, CEO of Wenzel Spine, of the two new additions.

2. Dr. Arle is the associate chief of neurosurgery at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston and an associate professor of surgery at Harvard Medical School. He is board-certified and a member of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons. He has authored nearly 60 publications and has completed a fellowship in functional neurological surgery at New York University Langone Medical Center.

3. Dr. Wilson is a partner in Birmingham, Ala.-based Neurosurgical Associates and currently practices at the St. Vincent's NeuroSpine Center in Birmingham. He has held several leadership positions on the medical staff of St. Vincent's Birmingham. He is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, Jefferson County Medical Society and Medical Association of the State of Alabama. He completed his neurosurgery residency at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, N.C.

4. Wenzel Spine products include the VariLift-C Stand-Alone Expandable Interbody Fusion System and VariLift-L Stand-Alone Expandable Interbody Fusion System. It launched the VariLift-C Stand-Alone Zero-Profile Expandable Cervical Interbody Fusion Device in April 2013, a device that is indicated to be implanted as a single device or bilaterally via an anterior approach, which may be implanted without supplemental fixation.

5. Wenzel Spine partners with distributors globally. The company is growing quickly and is currently overseen by CEO Chad Neely, CFO Dave Donovan and COO William Wilson, among others. It's scientific advisory board as comprises Warren F. Neely, MD, and David Attia, MD, in addition to Dr. Arle and Dr. Wilson.

Recently, several organizations have been creating and making additions to their scientific advisory board. Cesca Therapeutics formed its first clinical and scientific advisory board earlier this month, and BioRestorative Therapies appointed Wayne Olan, to its scientific advisory board.
