Becker's reported on two orthopedic patent cases since Oct. 31.
1. Spinelogik sued Camber Spine alleging the Spira-C integrated fixation system infringes a patent covering technology for spinal fusions. The lawsuit, filed Oct. 29 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, focuses on U.S. Patent No. 8,460,385. The patent covers technology for promoting cervical spinal fusion.
2. Fusion Orthopedics won a patent judgment against Extremity Medical from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office's Patent Trial and Appeal Board. The board found that 14 patent claims brought by Extremity were invalid and denied motions to amend the claims of the patent, according to a Nov. 5 news release from Fusion.
