The Harry T. Mangurian Jr. Foundation gifted Jacksonville, Fla.-based Mayo Clinic $20 million to support its efforts to develop a neurologic building, according to The Florida Times-Union.
Here are five things to know:
1. The new construction name will be named the Dorothy J. and Harry Mangurian Jr. Building and will include five stories with the option to expand to 12 stories.
2. The center will provide comprehensive neurologic and neurosurgical care along with cancer, hematology and oncology services.
3. Mayo will increase its staff by 50 percent and hire 12 additional neurologists and neurosurgeons for the new building.
4. This gift is part of Mayo Clinic’s expansion plan, which began two years ago.
5. The Mangurian Foundation has donated $27 million to Mayo Clinic in the past.
