One-third of physicians are considering or have considered switching to a concierge practice, according to Physicians Practice's 2014 Great American Physician Survey.
The survey includes responses from 1,311 physicians.
Here are four statistics on whether physicians would switch to concierge practices:
• Such a practice is not right for me, but I don't mind if other physicians do it — 51.7 percent
• I'm considering/have considered something like that — 30.6 percent
• I think concierge practices are bad for the healthcare system or unethical — 13.3 percent
• I'm already working in such a practice or I'm planning to switch — 4.4 percent
