David S. Levine, MD, performed ankle surgeries on New York Rangers' Dan Girardi and Marc Staal
Here are five facts about Dr. Levine:
1. Dr. Levine drained Mr. Girardi's swollen left ankle in a procedure known as "bursa excision."
2. He also removed a bone ship from Mr. Staal's left ankle, the result of a previous hairline fracture.
3. Dr. Levine, an orthopedic physician for Hospital for Special Surgery, attended Weill Cornell Medical College.
4. After completing his residency at Orthopedic Surgery Residency at Hospital for Special Surgery, his peers awarded him the Jean C. McDaniel Award for 'Excellence in Orthopedics.'
5. Dr. Levine is affiliated with the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society and the Association for the Study of Internal Fixation.
