John A. Abraham, MD, is the chief of the orthopedic oncology service at the Rothman Institute in Philadelphia. He is also the director of the Musculoskeletal Oncology Center at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and the Kimmel Cancer Center in Philadelphia. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Musculoskeletal Tumor Society and Connective Tissue Oncology Society.
Dr. Abraham, a board-certified orthopedic surgeon, focuses the treatment of bone and soft tissue sarcomas as well as metastatic bone cancers. He also has expertise in hip and knee replacement and revision surgery for hip and knee replacements, including custom and patient-matched acetabular reconstructions for severe pelvis bone loss. His research has been published in a number of prestigious journals, such as Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, Annals of Surgical Oncology and Orthopedics.
Dr. Abraham earned his medical degree at Yale University in New Haven, Conn., and completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at Harvard University in Boston. He also completed a fellowship in orthopedic surgical oncology at Harvard University, Massachusetts General Hospital and Boston's Children Hospital, all located in Boston.
