Retired orthopedic surgeon surrenders license after writing inappropriate prescriptions

A retired orthopedic surgeon in Kitsap County, Wash., surrendered his license and has promised never to practice medicine again after prescribing non-narcotic medication inappropriately, according to the Kitsap Sun.

 

Larry Iversen, an orthopedic surgeon who has not practiced medicine since 2011, had prescribed non-narcotic medications to a female minor with whom he was allegedly engaged in a relationship. According to the report, he met the female outside of his practice. Mr. Iversen agreed to surrender his credential and stop practicing any kind of medicine.

Mr. Iversen was also sentenced to five days in jail.
