Erie, Pa.-based St. Vincent Hospital orthopedic surgeon Robert Lupo, MD, hosted a free, open to the public seminar on robotic surgery and the Mako system Nov. 5, according to YourErie.com.
Here are four things to know:
1. The seminar showcased the medical advancements of robotic surgery, including the Mako surgical system, which is designed to create personalized patient surgical plans based on the individual's physiology.
2. Dr. Lupo's specialties include robotic hip and knee replacement surgery, direct anterior minimally invasive total hip arthroplasty, joint replacement and Mako robotic surgery.
3. He is also affiliated with Stryker, where he serves as director of Mako robotic joint replacement.
4. After earning his medical degree from Case Western Reserve School of Medicine, Dr. Lupo completed his residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center, both based in Cleveland.
