Montana Sen. Al Olszewski, R-Kalispell, MD, will introduce a bill focused on reducing prescription drug costs in Montana to the state's senate in 2019, Great Falls Tribune reports.
Here are three things to know:
1. The legislation, named Senate Bill 71, will eliminate practices such as kickbacks and price gouging by pharmaceutical industry middlemen, said Matt Rosendale, Commissioner of Securities and Insurance in Montana.
2. The bill would also hold insurance companies accountable for prescription drug benefits offered through their health insurance plans.
3. Sen. Olszewski owns Flathead Orthopedics in Kalispell, Mont.
