Rocky Mount-based UNC Orthopedics at Nash honored Adolfo Marsigli, MD, and Eduardo Marsigli, MD, according to a Dec. 13 report from The Spring Hope Enterprise.
The hospital hung a plaque honoring the brothers in the Nash General Hospital's orthopedic wing, the report said.
The brothers established the first orthopedic surgery practice in Rocky Mount in the mid-1970s and provided orthopedic care for more than 45 years. Dr. Adolfo Marsigli provided care until his death 15 years ago. Dr. Eduardo Marsigli doesn't operate anymore, but he still teaches and mentors other surgeons.
"Between the two of them, I've researched that they probably have done between [10,000 and 20,000] operations here in this hospital," Greg Nelson, orthopedic surgeon said in the report.
