Beaumont-based Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas has added a Mako robot to assist with orthopedic surgeries, according to a Dec. 14 report from the Beaumont Enterprise.
The robot will assist in both knee and hip replacement procedures. This is Baptist's third surgical robot, but its first specifically for orthopedics.
Wagdy Rizk, MD, has been using the new robot in surgeries. With its help, Dr. Rizk is expected to increase the number of procedures he is able to perform per day.
