5 places adding spine, orthopedic robots in January

Hospitals and practices have bolstered their surgical offerings with spine and orthopedic robots in January.

Note: This is not an exhaustive list.

1. Jonesboro, Ark.-based NEA Baptist added the Mako SmartRobotics system for hip replacement procedures.

2.Glendale, Ariz.-based Abrazo Arrowhead added Medtronic's StealthStation S8 spine navigation system.

3. Patrick Kim, MD, completed the first robotic case with the ExcelsiusGPS spine robot at Tampa (Fla.) General Hospital.

4. Thomasville, Ga.-based Archbold Orthopedics added a Mako robot for hip and knee replacements. 

5. MemorialCare Long Beach Medical Center is the first hospital in California to add Stryker's Q Guidance system with Spine Guidance software.
