Medicrea gained FDA clearance for its UNiD IB3D patient-matched interbody cages, the device company announced Feb. 11.
What you should know:
1. Part of Medicrea's UNiD ASI platform technology, the 3D-printed titanium implants provide customized cage dimensions, features and endplate morphology.
2. UNiD LAB engineers design the optimal cages to restore proper height and angulation using precise mapping and preoperative surgical planning.
3. The cages are also designed to optimize surface contact between the implant and vertebral endplates.
4. UNiD IB3D patient-matched interbody cages are the first FDA-cleared patient-matched implants intended for load-bearing applications in spine surgery.
5. Previously, the only commercially available patient-matched implants approved by the FDA were designed for cranioplasty.
