The Dow Jones Sustainability World Index named Medtronic as a world leader in sustainability for the 15th consecutive year.
The index recognizes global leaders in sustainability based on an assessment of long-term economic performance, environmental stewardship, social responsibility and corporate governance, according to a Dec. 14 news release from the medical technology company. Read the full methodology here.
"At Medtronic, we have a tremendous opportunity and responsibility to engineer the extraordinary for patients around the world," Geoff Martha, Medtronic's CEO and chairman, said in the release. "[Environmental, social and governance management] is embedded in our DNA and closely intertwined with the Medtronic Mission to maintain good citizenship as a company — and ultimately, alleviate pain, restore health and extend life."
