6 medtech notes: Zimmer Biomet, Hospital for Special Surgery and more

Here are six updates from spine and orthopedic medtech companies since Feb. 1:

1. Clarius Mobile Health has earned FDA 510(k) clearance for its new MSK AI ultrasound system, which identifies and measures tendons in the foot, ankle and knee. 

2. Zimmer Biomet on Feb. 3 posted fourth quarter revenue increases and a $130.5 million net loss.

3. Former Walmart Health executive Marcus Osborne will lead New York City-based Hospital for Special Surgery's vitual musculoskeletal physical therapy company, RightMove.

4. Orthopedic fixation technology company Ossio has launchedthe world's first non-permanent compression staple for orthopedic fixation, the Ossiofiber Compression Staples. 

5. Altus Spine's Monaco pedicle screw system was used in its first complex deformity case at New York City-based NYU Medical Center, the devicemaker said Feb. 2.

6. Orthopedic devicemaker Stryker plans to significantly increase its presence in the artificial intelligence space, CEO Kevin Lobo shared in a Feb. 6 television interview with Fox Business.
