CereVasc, a medical device company, appointed Adel Malek, MD, PhD, as chief medical officer.
Dr. Malek currently serves as chief of neurovascular surgery and director of the cerebrovascular and endovascular division in the neurosurgery department at Tufts Medical Center in Boston. He is also a professor of neurosurgery at Tufts University School of Medicine, according to a March 18 news release.
The company develops minimally invasive treatments for neurological diseases. It is currently creating the eShunt system, a device to treat communicating hydrocephalus.
Dr. Malek is a co-inventor of the system and will aid in the development and clinical strategy of the device, the release said.
