Hoag Spine Center in Newport Beach, Calif. is the first in Orange County to install the EOSedge system for spine imaging, according to a May 24 news release.
The EOS imaging system combines x-ray, low-dose radiation and an open design to take high resolution images. It uses Flex Dose technology to modulate radiation exposure and is designed for a more comfortable patient experience.
"It enables us to see the entire spine, its interconnections and balance points, so we can treat the underlying condition that caused the disc to rupture or the bone to slip," Adam Kanter, MD, associate executive medical director of the Pickup Family Neurosciences Institute, said in the releaese. "The EOS helps us understand why the problem occurred, not just that it did occur."
