Tampa, Fla.-based Laser Spine Institute — with regional centers in Tampa, as well as Oklahoma City, Philadelphia and Scottsdale, Ariz. — has launched two surgical procedures, RegenaDISC and minimally invasive stabilization. RegenaDISC is a procedure pioneered by the institute's chief of surgical innovation, Mark Flood, MD. It is a minimally invasive spinal disc regeneration procedure that uses stem cell tissue transplantation to treat the root causes of back pain. That procedure will be performed at Laser Spine's Scottsdale center.
Minimally invasive stabilization is an outpatient procedure including cervical and lumbar minimally invasive spine fusion. Before offering the new procedure, Laser Spine Institute had to refer patients in need of a fusion to other practices. The stabilization procedure will initially be handled at the institute's Tampa location, though Laser Spine Institute intends to offer it at its other locations in the future.
