Madhavan Pisharodi, MD, a neurosurgeon focused on spine surgery, recently received a patent for a battery charger that has a built-in timer to prevent overcharging, according to a Brownsville Herald report.
Dr. Pisharodi previously received patents for medical devices and received FDA approval on three spinal implant designs. The most recent patent for the battery charger would be used with cell phones, computers and other devices. In addition to the timer, it includes a sensor that detects when the battery is fully charged and shuts off.
