Orthopedic spine surgeon Dr. Max Burrs dies at 76

Max Burr, MD, died on June 11 at the age of 76 in Michigan, according to Ledger-Enquirer.

The retired orthopedic surgeon earned his medical degree from Philadelphia-based Temple University in 1965. He then served in the U.S. Coast Guard, starting his orthopedic surgery residency at San Francisco-based U.S. Public Heath Service in 1968.

 

Dr. Burr joined Columbus, Ga.-based Hughston Clinic in 1971, focusing the latter part of his career on spine. A medical condition pushed Dr. Burr into retirement in 2004.

 

Outside of his medical career, Dr. Burr served in leadership positions in the St. Thomas Episcopal Church, played the piano and collected art.
