Jeremy Greenlee, MD, of the department of neurosurgery at the University of Iowa in Iowa City, won the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers.
Three insights:
1. The PECASE is the highest honor awarded by the U.S. government for scientists at the start of their research careers.
2. The award recognizes contributions made to the advancement of science, technology, education and mathematics education as well as community service.
3. Dr. Greenlee is a double fellowship-trained neurosurgeon and professor of neurosurgery at the University of Iowa who conducts research into the neural mechanisms of speech production and helps patients who need skull-base surgery and spinal procedures.
