Texas neurosurgeon dies after medical issue during car race

Pediatric neurosurgeon Tim George, MD, died after suffering a medical issue during a Michelin Sports Car race in Florida on Nov. 10, reports KXAN.

Dr. George, 59, was transported to a local hospital in Sebring, Fla., where he passed away.

He served as director of pediatric neurosurgery at Dell Children's Medical Center in Austin, Texas.

Previously Dr. George was associate professor of neurosurgery, pediatrics and neurobiology at Duke University School of Medicine in Durham, N.C.

He graduated from New York University in New York City. Dr. George completed a residency in neurosurgery at Yale University School of Medicine in New Haven, Conn., and a fellowship in pediatric neurosurgery at Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago.
