Robert Heary, MD, was appointed medical director of Montclair, N.J.-based Hackensack Meridian Mountainside Medical Center's spine program.
Dr. Heary will oversee the program to ensure the hospital delivers evidence-based care.
He earned his medical degree from University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He completed a residency at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in Newark and completed a fellowship at Philadelphia-based Thomas Jefferson University.
Dr. Heary is a past vice president of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons.
Hospital CEO Tim O'Brien said, "Dr. Heary is a recognized leader in the field of neurosurgery and his appointment will further advance the quality of care for those treated for a spine condition."
