Neurosurgeon Chima Ohaegbulam, MD, has been appointed chief of spine surgery at New England Baptist Hospital in Boston.
Dr. Ohaegbulam succeeds Scott Tromanhauser, MD, who served in the role from 2014 to 2020, according to an April 1 news release.
His areas of expertise include minimally invasive surgery, motion-preserving techniques and robotic spine surgery.
Dr. Ohaegbulam was born in the U.K. and raised in Nigeria, where he graduated from medical school.
He moved to the U.S., completing a residency and spine fellowship at Boston Children's Hospital and Brigham and Women's Hospital, before joining New England Baptist Hospital in 2005.
David Passafaro, president of New England Baptist, said, "Dr. Ohaegbulam is a natural leader and an esteemed neurosurgeon who will continue to bring deep knowledge and expertise to New England Baptist in this new role."
