U.S. Congress has formally recognized October as Spine Health Awareness Month, according to an Oct. 19 announcement.
The designation comes at the request of the National Spine Health Foundation, a nonprofit advocating for patient spine health education.
"October's Spine Health Awareness Month gives us an opportunity to highlight the critical work our organization does year-round," Rita Roy, MD, CEO of the NSHF said in a news release.
The NSHF will host a gala Oct. 22 to recognize achievements in spine health leaders nationwide.
